There Doris graduated from Moberly High School, went to Junior College, including cosmetology school until she decided it wasn’t for her.

After Charles retired and Ron was grown and on his own, they bought a trailer 17′ long and traveled about the United States. When Charles health began to fail, Doris took the lead, sold there home and came to Redding to be close to Ron.
River Oaks became their home for six years yet Charles health failed even more, soon Charles lived at Applewood next door for sometime until he met the Angels. His brass plate reads U.S. Army, World War II Korea, he was very proud of his country.
Doris continued to be very active at River Oaks, she was and is an avid reader, leading the exercise class, occasionally calling Bingo, luncheon outing and her favorite lunch is a cheeseburger, no tomato, onion, lettuce, or ketchup.
In her early ninety’s she recovered from breast cancer, later leading to a fall, and luckily Ron was visiting that afternoon. During the period of recovering from short-term memory lost, she writes in a little note-book she keeps by her side of everyday event, to help her remember. Her long-term memory is outstanding.
Later, She recovered from seven months of shingles. During daily care for Doris her daughter-in-law and son signed up immediately for shingle vaccination.
Today Doris is a resident Shasta View Estate, Weed, California, she dresses herself, sets her cloths out the evening before, she knits, keeps a journal, plays word search, goes to Walmart, outing to Mt. Shasta for Bingo and Lunch. Strolls, wins candy at in house Bingo and other board games, (since money can not be exchanged) also sings in group events, watch a good movie, keeps up with new events by visiting while getting a perm and/or a manicure or pedicure.
Most of all Doris says she is 98% of the time in good spirits, she eats good, the home here serves a good meal, she loves being spoiled and loves the girls, their all like family.
On March 24th, 2018 at 1200am or 0001. military time Doris Maxine Rhodefer becomes 100 years of age. Doris enjoys telling her stories of youth, family and friends.
I thank the newspaper Moberly Monitor-Index, La Plata Home Press, Radio Amateur Callbook, The State Historical Society of Missouri, Ancient Faces, her son Ron Rhodefer, and most of all Doris M. Rhodefer, one of her cute sayings is “I like a good story with a happy ending,” then after a moment passes she then presents a big smile.

Birth of Jesus Foretold
Luke 1:26-38New International Version (NIV)
The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Veterans Day: Never Once
I do not know what nightmare you had gone through
I do not know how lonely you felt time to time
Never once did you share your sorrow
Never once
.
Yet, I do know you were proud to live in your home country
I do know you left your family to go to battle
I do know it spared us from sorrow
Keeping the nightmare of war away
.
We, our families are grateful for freedom,
the men, women, you, brother, sister, and our ancestry
lay before us
Unknowing what it took during those hours
.
We thank you for waking to a bomb-less morning
We thank you to the surrounding life of peace
Never once did you share your sorrow
Never once

98 years and counting
“Born March 25, 1918” Doris Rhodefer would quote to me very proudly as she sits tall in her chair, and like a queen she would scan the room to see whom was listening insuring herself she had an audience.
Unknowing to her she did, all will be revealed after lunch when she return from Mt Shasta Resort.
Her birthday greeting started early when she woke up, a purple balloon tied to her walker, with a huge Happy Birthday pin to the entry door of her room. As we enter the front entry doors of Shasta View Nursing Center, held in hand was a bouquet of balloons, a bouquet of flowers, and greeting birthday cards for her to enjoy reading while waiting for lunch to be served, which her favorite is a hamburger well-done with American cheese, no onions and pickles, also french fries and coke over ice.
The day was busy at the nursing center, resident seniors were decorating eggs for the Easter egg-hunt coming up in a day and a half, volunteers and employee meetings, visitors visiting family members coming and going.
Yet, no matter how busy the resident staff was, many of them took a moment to wish Doris a Birthday greetings…which made her special day last into the evening.
Happy Birthday Doris Rhodefer!
Do not fear
Do not fear, for I am with you,
Isaiah 41:10.
For myself, this little statement is lost during those sad moments
when I am in my own self pitty party. These pitty party’s can last for minutes, hours or even days depending the deep and how long it takes me to let go of the happening, event or sorrow that occurred.
The fear of not knowing or understanding are mostly the set-backs, specially when good intentions was to help others and the unexpected happens.
Prayers, meditation, stress release of deep breathing may help the body and mind for short moments, yet the emotion has to-be overcome.
Passage Isaiah 41:10, reminds me of reality. Reality of before, during, and after I leave my pitty party. Reality, that I welcome an invisible spirit into my life, that once shared breath as I, other people, animals and all living creatures that live and once had life on this planet.
Through every fear there is light and someone patiently waiting.

Hawai’i’s Green Sea Turtle – Respecting “Honu”
Hawaii’s threatened green sea turtle are found at the Maui Ocean Center Hawaiian Aquarium, as well as along the beautiful coast line of the island’s of Hawaii’, Florida, Mexico, and any where there is tropical and subtropical sandy beaches, such as Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and North America.
“Honu”, our ancient ocean friends, sea turtles have lived in the oceans of the earth before dinosaurs, at least a hundred and fifty million years. I have read there are seven species of sea turtles varying in color, such as greenish or brown, and black to gray, they may have spots or streaks, and yellowish white plastron. Our Pacific green sea turtles, Honu’s are consider a separate specie and to scientist known as black sea turtle.
Each “Honu” and sea turtle have distinctive individual facial markings telling them apart from each other. The most friendly of all turtles is “Honu” the green sea turtle. They swim with divers among the coral reefs sharing they feel comfortable with little to worry about.
The adult weighting about three hundred pounds eat algae and sea grasses, and can also be seen around the bay, estuaries, sea grass meadows, while the younger “Honu” include jellyfish, sponges and small mollusks in their diet.
These agile swimmers maybe protected under various national treaties, but it’s not enough. The “Honu” and sea turtles depend on land to build their nests and deposit their eggs on beaches;
Large-scale poaching for meat, leather and shells are one of the things they can not out swim, or out run when the sea turtle natural nesting time tells them to come to shore, also demand for these green sea turtles at times has been enormous;
they drown in tuna and shrimp nets, swordfish long lines and other fishing gears; commercial exploitation of sea turtle eggs; ocean pollution; and destruction and development to nesting beaches by human progress.
Education is very important for us to know and understand the reproduction of these ancient ocean dwellers. Ocean life depend on us, in more ways than one. “Honu” shares the sea with us, respecting “Honu” is respecting ourselves.
Turtle’s message to us, “Slow down!” Going slower sometimes gets you there sooner,

“Angelos”
“Angelos”
meaning “messenger”.
World religions and myself believe
that our angels are messenger from a greater spirit, to help us here on earth
during our life time.
I have heard many stories of angels, coming to one or another in human
or energy like form.
I like to believe, “Angelos” are more than messengers,
I like to believe they are positive energies, with divine guidance to help
support an individual as he or she are seeking miracle within themself.
I like to believe “Angels” are healers, listeners, and teachers,
hearing our whispers, understanding our dearest thoughts,
while lifting our vibration to a higher sense of well-being.
I like to believe, I do believe.

Dreams
We all dream at one time or another, day dreams allowing our mind to drift off in between projects, dreams during our evening sleep, or no matter what time of the day.
Many of us have dreams of meaning, sending our inner thoughts a message or a clue, dreams of reminders, and for most of us we like sweet dreams reviewing a special moments that allow us to start a new day with a sunshine thought.
Dreaming of waterfall, can be associated with the flow of one’s emotions, insights and idea. On the other hand it could
symbolize passage of time in its natural state of creation and beauty allow a restful place of solitude, relaxation, or cleansing of ones mine, oneself physically, maybe emotionally and the list goes on…
I like to share a Robert Moss dream with you and hope you enjoy it as I had.

Amethyst
The earth has provided us with so many beautiful gifts, my favorite Crystal Quartz’s is the Amethyst.
Most amethyst today come from Brazil Or Uruguay, even though it still can be found all over the world.
The highest quality amethyst is considered to come from Russia, the Ural Mountains.
The colors of amethyst vary from pale pinkish amethystine to a dark blue-violet, with shades of wine red, even sometimes gray.
This beautiful stone has been used for jewelry to healing since ancient times.
This very special quartz is found in many different rocks and many different forms, yet most amethysts share a few basic properties, beyond color.
After a long period of time most quartz can become pale when left directly under sunlight, such as citrine, pink quartz, smoky quartz.
In feng shui, amethyst is used for its purification qualities.
With the deep indigo hue amethyst also has the ability to connect to higher planes of energy.
Caregiving between Lives
AS the seconds turn into a minute, then the minutes turn into an hour,
I again toasted the early morning with a
“One, One, and One”
January 1st, 1am
Just by luck my sister text me Jan. 1, 1pm.
With speed I respond by
Jan. 1, 1pm, and 01 minute.
Such luck, to start the new year off with.
What does this routine have to do with anything?
As times passes so does our body, from the day were born, thru our childhood, active adult year, into our senior years, every human person ages, and so does animals,
the earth we stand on, insects, plants and planets.
As I was growing up I never really realize what the word Caregiver was about, because in our family it became an auto, a natural action given.
Family took care of family, mother and father, aunties, grandparent cared for children and their friends if needed.
Caring wasn’t a routine it was instinctive, it was not expected, it was shared, it is part of the Hawaiian culture and understood within oneself.
The caring for our parents was easier because we were a large family of sharing and wanting to take responsibility that we felt within each one of ourselves.
Self gratitude and meaning came from it. And I am sure this is true for so many people, no matter where they live, or under what condition.
With every teaching there is always something we learn to accept, a condition or thought we can not change due to that individual thinking and acceptance.
My brothers, sisters, and I were very obedient when it came to our fathers concerns.
Our mother was an Angel, wanting to give back just as much we wanted to give her. Her passing was a shock and took us all by surprise, even her doctors. Our mother was a positive minded good loving spirit and lived life, for every little awe that presented itself before her.
She lived within the present moments of seconds, with stong mind and will.
She to was a care giving friend and helped others outside family needs. People accepted her freely and return lovingly kindness given. And she had a way of turning a grumpy person into a laughing soul.
On the other hand, our father was of different personality.
With the help of our younger sister she found an organization called Hospice,
but for us it was the last few weeks of his life before they could assist
us with information.
By this time, our dad brow beat a few of us, and it was taking its toll.
I requested Micheal to help. Michael made the arrangement,
and I personally made the truck payment,
cause keeping the truck on the road was his only income.
Our father won’t deal with anyone else.
Micheal re-grouped the family, and together they continued our
fathers wishes so he could pass away at home.
That took a lot of love, caring, giving, on all their part.
Months later, in a class I learned it was not unusual for a person nearing the
end of life, to become irrational, blaming, pushing love ones away.
Some males can’t stand a girl or woman watch them,
they become more stress. Then finally which I know is true,
“The fear there’s no one there, to save you”
is something deep in the back of our mind.
The silver hair woman is Doris Rhodefer, a 95 year smart, and spunky,
lady whom gives her son a hard time.
She has a custom of living a certain style and demands her attention,
which seem to be part of her birth sign.
The residents tell me she can be bossy, yet she has a heart of love,
and many people adore her.
Her one and only child is Ron. To my eyes he is much like
his mother, but Doris says he is just like his father.
Only a mother knows!
No matter what, they have the love and respect for each other,
and that’s what counts.
A while back Doris slip causing a brain bleed after her fall.
That fall changed her independent lifestyle,
I automatically shifted my mind for caring for Doris at home,
but later learn the nursing facility we moved her too, was the best place
for her and for Ron and in reality for myself, due to
unforseen health problems that arose later on for Ron.
Understanding a little about nursing facilities through my daughter whom
is a care giver and my grandfathers experience.
In respect,
I greet the adults of all ages whether they respond or not, when I entered
their home, yes their home, I personally don’t label it as a nursing facility.
Each resident has their own self value and pride.
They watched me just as much, I watched them.
Some would grin, while others hold a stern look all day long.
Ron, never missed a day, but his mother would never remember that,
due to her short-term memory lost.
This little problem was solved when I bought her a small notebook and
ink pen, so she could keep daily notes.
When a question or statement arose that she couldn’t remember the day
before, we asked her to look at her notes. After she read it,
a grin and deep breath would follow, she was satisfied.
For myself I have learned what the pace is like in Doris’s residents,
it is very hard in the beginning, but then it becomes familiar.
It is a little country of its own, with busy bees, working bees, that
I admire, including the staff, students, and volunteers.
I dedicate my thanks for people who have the personality to become a
caregiver and still maintain a normal family life.
No matter if it is a nursing home, or private home,
it is a special talent.
These special people carry a lot of inner peace,
to get through the hard moments when things happen.
Each caregiver has their own reasons, and self rewards, hopes and dreams.
Each individual person has an importance, not seen by the outside world,
yet the energy and passion flows beyond the doors.
Thank You.
Whisper – the color Black
Black
Have you ever reached into a dark closet allowing only your finger tips to locate what you’re trying to find.
Have you every notice how much light is absorb within the dark.
I once asked a friend, “What is it like being blind?”, his reply was,
“I don’t know?” “I have nothing to compare it to.”
My friend was blind since childhood.
Wondering back to those moments when we were young,
both of us filled with uncertainties, we spoke of our dreams, wishes, and hope.
Our emotions of fears differ, just like the understanding of sight, and the unseen.
*
Black is the absence of all color, at least for these old eyes it seems to be.
The ritual of walking into light, and the expectancy of darkness is a blessing at times.
Darkness can make a room romantic, allowing lite candles set the mood.
A glow from the horizon enhances the deep shadows changing the feeling to warmth.
Darkness, or the depth of blackness can allow our sense
of impression create a mysterious imagination.
Knowing this!
Do you think? The eyes, mind, or imagination is what leads us to the
perception of black.
In nature a black flower is rare, so rare that in true form the actual deep rich color
may have a low or no visible light (spectrum) when reflected back to the human eye.
According to science the red color may have the longest wavelength
yet it also has the least amount of energy in the visible spectrum.
Black Magic Hollyhock plant is a beautiful deep rich red flowers, yet within seconds
our brain may give the impression of the color black.
Calla Lily, a deep purple or maroon, still can fool the eye,
The Chocolate Cosmos and the Black Dahlia,
are enhanced with a deep, deep burgundy or chocolate color.
Like flowers, the color of fruits and vegetables can fool the eye,
also the lack of knowledge and understanding may surprise our views.
The olive is a fruit harvested during its green to purple stage.
The canned black olive we see,
possibly containing ferrous sulfate or other chemicals, turning them black artificially.
Earth has provided many natural resources living and non-living that are outside the visible light spectrum list,
such as coal, charcoal, soot, graphite, basalt, decompose organic matter, minerals and more.
The physical color of black is associated with the ideas of powerless to strength,
and is effected by culture understand, spiritual adaptation,
religious comformities and objects of special attention or preference.
In spite the fact that black has no clear message,
it’s a step into the future of unknown.
Forty years have passed since I last seen my friend in person,
yet even in the darkness of black, I can vision him very clearly.
Whisper – the color Brown
Brown is a mixture of color soil beneath our feet.
Brown keeps us grounded, humans clam it is a neutral color,
Brown is the base of nature, a sense of warmth, the soil for growth,
natural, organic, reflection of harvest, together with “ending, returning to earth.”
.
Many minerals of brown are stones,
the natural foods I eat
such as rice, flour, sugar, and coco, are brown.
.
Brown can be found in its natural state everywhere on earth.
My body sense an energy that understands the surroundings around me,
no matter the shade, or tone of brown.
The natural state of brown is symbolic, and accepted ritually in many cultures
brown represents earth, and in feng shui, wood.
Whisper – the color White
Technically and Actually White is light.
White reflects light.
White reveals meaning on standing custom and culture humans up hold.
White is many colors in one.
White is oneness and purity.
White inspires joy and surprise.
White inspires cool, openness and a sense of Freedom
White inspires sense of Love, New Beginning, and Softness,
White inspires a thought of Heaven and Spirituality.
White is never alone
White has a high vibration and brilliant reflection.
White can create the sense of space
White touches the emotion and consciousness with a simple thought
Colors can be personal, yet white can be neutral.
Whisper – the color Orange
As I gaze upon this daily miracle, nature has a way of staging sunsets naturally.
Colorfully the sun-rays beams its final moments,
as it drifts downward passing over the bottom edge of the horizon.
Suddenly, my emotions deepens as it moves within the closing light.
I then take a deep breath, again attentive for sunrise.
– Malia Plevney-
Orange is a spectrum color found between red and yellow.
It is a well balance color, that is mostly seen during sunrise or sunset.
At times the orange has a softness creating a gentle feeling,
this natural manifestation is noticed when the sunlight wave-lengths
are passing through a mixture of dust particles.
When orange is blend with addition colors it takes on multi sets of orders,
Like yellow, orange presents joyousness feelings.
Orange is a fantastic accent color
to brighten the landscape, as well as inside a home.
Orange can draw anyones attention, near and far.
Orange is found in a burning flame, representing warmth.
Orange stimulate the brain with enthusiasm and reminds us of the tropics.
Humans associate orange with food, harvest time, and
one of the four calendar seasons, Autumn.
Orange, like other colors has spirit, a vital spark, and is recognized as one of the Chakras.
Orange is used as a healing color,
Orange is Love, a color from the rainbow, and a universal spiritual teaching.
